I requested a sim swap but it turns out that the new sim is pay monthly and so doesn't work. I would like O2 to revert my number to the old sim card.
How do I do it?

You need to get another PAYG sim and do a sim swap Guide: Sim Swap: a mini guide 2017 update
Order any sim from here https://www.o2.co.uk/shop/sim-cards/pay-as-you-go

You need a new payg sim, you cannot revert back to one already used and cancelled.
A monthly sim will still receive texts when activated.
