Sorry if this has been covered before - I did search for quite a while for an answer.
I used a PAYG sim on a temporary basis and now no longer need it or the number. There is £5 free credit on the account, and all I was able to do on MyO2 was to downgrade the original £10 tariff to £5 to use up this credit.
There is no option to just cancel the sim card, or to check that auto-topup is off?
Is the best advice just to leave alone and then eventually they will delete the number for non-use? The main issue is that I don't want to be charged for any more credit.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Yes, just stop using the sim, don't top up and O2 will reclaim the number after six months
Any credit will automatically be lost

If you are worried about the auto top up. Go into your account and remove the card details
