Get a Smart (name of the network) Sim at the airport when you land will be a lot cheaper for usage in The Philippines, it is what I used to do when I worked in Manila for data access, and in country calls..
Use WhatsApp or any other web chat service instead of calls...
I do not work for o2 or any VMo2 /Telefonica/Liberty Global Company
