I am on pay as you go, when using wifi I was charged £2 for data use is this correct, I only thought I would be charged when not connected to wifi, also has the charge gone up from £1 to £2

Wifi may drop out occasionally.

To avoid using data in these circumstances, you should turn off mobile data in your phones settings.

Also check if you have wifi assist turned on as this can also use data if the wifi signal is weak or slow.
