Canadian trying to use and top up O2 sim card

Hi there,
My bf just arrived in the UK today for work and is there for 6 weeks. He has a Canadian phone plan and was hoping to avail of O2's services by picking up a sim card and topping it up as needed so he can stay in contact with us without spending his entire cheques on roaming charges. I'm trying to top up his card for him, but it won't allow it where we have CDN addresses and cards. Is there any way around this? 😞

You need a UK card or he can get vouchers from here in UK.

You can only use UK Issued cards to topup, however there are a couple of ways round this.

1. Go to a supermarket or Shop and buying a top up voucher
2. Use a 3rd party topup service such as https://www.mobiletopup.co.uk/o2

The first topup has to be done via voucher as well.

His only way would be to get a UK network PAYG sim (If his phone is unlocked)

If he chooses an O2 sim he could top up via any route in this guide

He needs to get the premium international big bundle tariff which will give him 1000 mins to call you for £20 per month. ($35 Canadian)

@Candie_8 Best way to completely avoid any charges for your boyfriend and the people he wants to keep in contact with in Canada is to use WhatsApp over WiFi.
