I have received an alert stating "New Voicemail Dial 123" On opening it dials the speaking clock and charges 20p for the privilege, there also seems to be no way of deleting alert.
02 not any help at all. Is this a scam or a bug in their system.

@Studio-Dee

I'm guessing your phone was previously on EE and that is a network message from them.

123 on EE is voicemail.

123 on O2 is the speaking clock.

You may need to speak to EE to ask them to stop sending you alerts.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Thanks for your prompt response.

Your suggestion sort of makes sense as the phone was on EE for a while but on a different phone number but of course, the IMEI number is the same. I don't know which ID the phone companies use for alerts. Anyway thanks again, I will talk to EE as I still have that account on a different phone.

After speaking to some very helpful people at EE in Ireland who were sure it was not their problem but spent time on it and gave me the pointers that provided the solution.

Very simply the voicemail settings on my O2 phone had the voicemail number set to 123. Obviously a hangover from when the EE SIM was in the phone.

I changed it to 901 as per the info supplied by @Bambino and retrieved an old O2 message.

The alert obviously picks up the number from the settings.

Thanks to everyone for their input.
