Last month I started a  topic titled "Why is 5G not available on PAYG?"

Unfortunately, the forum trolls and know alls hi-jacked it, and it was locked.

Today, 1st July, I noticed that my phone is now showing that I'm getting 5G on my PAYG phone.

I've opened this thread to inform anyone who is interested, that 5G is now available on PAYG.

Best wishes.

Thanks for the tag @Enlli

Just to clear any confusion, we are currently enhancing our Pay & Go connectivity during the 2nd half of this year and customers will start to receive 5G services as their Pay & Go Bundle allowances refresh.

If you're not currently on a Bundled product you will recieve 5G service over the coming months.

Our online pages/FAQs will be updated to reflect this in due course.

Well, I've got it on my phone.  I don't care what that says, I'm looking at it, so it is available on PAYG.

How to perform O2 Internet Speed Test?

  1. Open a browser and type https://speed.is/uk/o2/.
  2. Select a Host ISP or let it choose the optimal ISP automatically.
  3. Press the ‘GO’ button to start the Internet Speed Test.

See where you've got 4G in a red circle?  I've got 5G there.

Could be down to testing 5G readiness, @Southsider46 -

The speed test link shared earlier above will show if you are getting 5G speeds as well:

150Mbps. That falls right in the middle of the suggested peak speed and the average speed.

Superb! Maybe O2 will get their act together and offer it to PAYG as standard, they could do with it as the 3G, and later, 2G, Services get switched off, @Southsider46.

I'll keep an eye on it.  Hopefully it's not just a trial period.

Check if 4G Calling is also active. That's the big thing as 3G disappears.

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.
