Hi ... i'm Colin.

I'm trying to help a local person with special needs. They are being conned. I'm trying to get them help via the police fraud squad. The number is 0300 123 2040.

I have an O2 Pay as You Go phone. Can I ring this number for free?

Cheers

Col

@Skires

All 03 numbers come from any call allowances you have.

If no allowances, they are charged at your standard tariff call rate.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Hi @Skires

No it wont be free

https://www.o2.co.uk/help/account-and-billing/other-numbers-and-charges

Calls to 03 numbers will cost the same as other standard fixed line numbers (starting 01 or 02), and are included as part of any inclusive or free minutes allowances on O2 tariffs.

@Skires This is from the Action Fraud site regarding the number you're calling:

"If you have inclusive minutes within your mobile tariff then calls to our number are included at no cost. If you have used all of your inclusive minutes then the call will typically cost 35p per minute depending on your network provider."

And for the benefit of others, here is Ofcom's advice on 03 numbers - this obviously applies to all UK network operators, fixed & mobile.

https://www.ofcom.org.uk/phones-telecoms-and-internet/advice-for-consumers/advice/what-are-03-number...

"Calls to 03 numbers cost no more than a national rate call to an 01 or 02 number and must count towards any inclusive minutes in the same way as 01 and 02 calls."
