02 SIM in Tesco phone

Hi. Work have bought me a crappy Alcatel phone with an 02 PAYG SIM. I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace that I don't use - so wouold like to use the SIM in that phone. Requested an unlock code from Tesco - didn't work. It does say unlock PIN from SIM provider. So - do I need an unlock PIN from 02? TIA.
