I don't know what is going on here and I'm not sure I believe it, but a thread has appeared elsewhere saying that O2 Webmail will be closing at the end of the year according to an O2 Web Chat advisor.

Maybe Chiara could check this out as people using this service may need to make other arrangements.

I think a few of us were correct and not making a fuss for no reason.

So the suspicions were true, I'm not too worried but 58 days notice is a bit tight.

Many people must have quarterly notifications about recurring bills etc which they now won't receive.

Thankfully I still have O2/Sky broadband which gives me an extension, or I would be very cross about this.

Thanks O2 Smiley Frustrated

What happens to the o2.co.uk mailbox of customers who used to have O2 Broadband but moved to a different ISP months or years ago?

I'll take a guess they will vaporise without any warning if the users are not in touch with O2 now.

I still have an o2.co.uk mailbox from my O2 Broadband days; I don't mind if they delete it, I'm just curious. I've had no email delivered to it saying that it will close.

Which brings me on to my next question, will O2 send an email into all the affected mailboxes ASAP?

That was my next question as well. O2 need to notify customers via an email or text to let them know, not just put a page on their site. It might also be useful to have something obvious on the O2 homepage to direct visitors to that page!

58 days is more time that ex-btinternet.com user are being given by BT to change email address. My dad received an email  to let him know he had a month to start using BT internet again or lose his btinternet.com email address. Admittedly they did give the option of paying £1.60 a month to keep the address as well...but who pays for email addresses these days?

I think that's the least they should do otherwise many will only find out the hard way.

The BT situation is much better, since they offer a way to pay and keep it.

Some people use o2.co.uk email addresses for their company, including letter-headed paper, painted vans and the like. I know this is a stupid thing to do, probably against the T&C and they only have themselves to blame, but there you go.

Fortunately I could have done exactly that but something made me use a paid for one.

Oh I would have been so ecstatic if I'd printed it on the vans and paperwork!Smiley Surprised

To answer the email question, yes, all active users will receive an email.

Cheers, Toby
