Fake O2 Number

Anonymous
Not applicable

Lately there has been a number that has called multiple people, basically daily: '03303035324'. This number has been claiming to be O2 with offering discounts for loyalty or claiming the person has won something. But to continue, the caller says to go through a few questions first for data protection, which many know is shady especially since they are the one who called. It would be best to quickly block this call or ignore it, I hope this helps others to know what is happening, since some might not think twice and will answer those questions which will only cause them major problems in the future. Hopefully this stops soon, if you want to know more about it then just search the number on Google and it will usually take you to pages that tell you about this number and other's who comment about their own experiences with it.

Not uncommon these days unfortunately.
Cold calls should always be blocked and ignored.

Hi @Anonymous It's certainly a scam number. Deal with it via this route https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Pay-Monthly-and-Pay-Go/Are-you-fed-up-with-spam-calls-and-texts-Follow-these-steps-to/m-p/386364#M37293

What should concern us is how readily available network data bases are to these scammers.

Hence the security questions but as the OP says that would make me suspicious straight away, confirm your name, account number, dob, password etc....

When I checked the number through 'who called me'...many stated the caller said they were from O2 and obviously weren't.. All I read reported it as a scam

i had a text from "From02" yesterday sayingwe have some great discounted offers available to you as one of our loyal customers. we will call you about this soon terms apply. to opt out  call 2220.

then today i get a call from 03303035324 which i refused, but here it says its fake.

so is this a scam or not and is the From02 text and the 2220 and 03303035324 numbers all part of a scam?

anyone know who is running the scam, as last time i did answer one of these it turned out to be the car phone warehouse, who by the way sold me a phone with an imei number that was listed in a fraud investegation on EE even though the phone was on 02.

sounds sus to me.

We suspect it's one of O2's trusted partners and the advice is never to upgrade from a cold call. You would do well to block the number.
