Lumia 800 talking caller ID

I have recently acquired a Lumia 800 and i cannot get the phone to state the name of the caller when the phone is ringing. This has been a feature of my other Nokia phones. Please help. Thank you

Have you got your contacts stored on the phone and not just on the SIM?

yes i do have the contacts stored on the phone and when i receive a call,the name and number appears.

Have you got multiple contacts for the same name joined or all separate?

I do not have ease of access as an option under settings

I have separated the contacts as i used to own a Nokia E71before so i am aware of duplicate contacts.

Just thinking out loud but on my E72 if I have "Bob 01234 567890" and "Bob 07123 456789" it won't show the name, just the number, but if I join both contacts together it will show "Bob" when he calls.

Contact names have to be unique. so Bob 1 and Bob 2 would work fine.
