no service

I upgraded from Iphone 4 to Iphone 5 this morning in our local Phones 4 U. The guy in the shop put new smaller sim into the phone, at my request. I have kept the same number.

I still have no service so cannot text or call out. Do I need to activate the sim? I thought this was automatic! He said I might have to wait a couple of hours before service resumed, but I have been waiting approximately 8 hours now.

Any ideas?

It takes up to 24 hours to fully complete the transfer, keep turning your phone on & off regularly until you get a signal & able to call & text out
