I flew to Greece, Rhodes and received my alert text that it was ok to Data roaming as it the UK. the next dat it said welcome to Turkey we'd only gone for a walk, turkey is across the water and says I'll be charged £7 mb per roaming. I never went to Turkey I'm still I was and I'm still in Greece and I don't want to be charge for roaming, any advice.

It's called Accidental roaming and it happens when your phone connects to the strongest network which in your case was Turkey
The way to stop it is by manually setting a Greek Network as preferred
This guide is useful explanation as the same thing can happen in Cyprus
