Unless you add it to an online order or purchase at point of sale, you'll need to take your phone in store to be evaluated prior to taking insurance, however, you should shop around as you may find cheaper cover elsewhere.

@pat3 Many home contents insurance policies cover mobile phones. I also believe that some banks do mobile insurance, but I'm not 100% certain about that.
