Should the WiFi icon be on all the time even when 4g is available?

Only when connected to a usable wifi signal.

I’m at home, connected to my WiFi and have a 4g signal, should the WiFi calling icon be on all the time as it’s on a little while then off.

Sounds like your wifi signal is unstable.
If the phone isn't happy with the quality of the wifi signal it won't connect to it for calls.

I have other devices connected to my WiFi, it’s rock solid.

I’d should also add that the phone is connected to my WiFi and has an excellent signal.

Calling requirements are different though.
I have virgin fibre and it comes and goes depending on where I am in the house.

Exactly the same for me with BT Internet at home. Occasionally 4G pops up if I'm in the bedroom...then a few seconds later tells me I am connected to WiFi...(I've stopped checking my WiFi now ..it just happens and then reverts back) ..

Ok, I’ll just let the phone get on with it, it’s set for 4g calling preferred I guess WiFi kicks in when 4g signal drops as it’s flaky where I live. Thanks for the replies.
