Vertically split screen into 2 sections

Many years ago when 1st learning wordprocessing on a computer ... = ... it was possible to vertically split the screen into 2 sections

Is it still possible to do this now please?

I ask because I find it very very difficult to hold in my brain / mind, info / knowledge needed to help me do a task from one screen to another ... = ... it is my fault ... ... ... I used to make brief notes in a lined notebook kept by my laptop then read my notes & implement new info / knowledge when I got the right screen up on the laptop

During my 4 years or so on the community forum I can now no longer barely write

It would help me greatly if this process were available or similar

Not usually vertically unless you have the phone in landscape (longest side is from left to right).
On my v30, if I press the square button then I can choose a couple of apps to have run side by side.
Not sure if this is Android built in or LG customisation...
