Updating software on E160 dongle

Hi there.

I have a E160 dongle that I want to lend to a friends and colleagues. The dongle has an old version of Connection Manager on it which doesn't support Windows 7 (I think).

I've downloaded the latest version of Connection Manager, which DOES support Windows 7 (I think).

Does anyone know how I can upgrade the software on the dongle, so that it auto-installs the latest version.

I have removed the software from my PC, so I can open the dongle like a memory stick and see all the files. Trouble is, the download from O2 is an exe, not a zip with a folder structure, so I'm not able to replace the old files on the 'memory stick' with new ones.

Any suggestions?

Updating software on E160 dongle

Hello you would be better using Huawei's own software which is much less buggy than o2's connection thingy,

http://www.dc-unlocker.com/downloads/Huawei/Huawei_E160

download the software from there and do a firmware upgrade.

Unlocked and BT OpenZone?

I presume unlocking will mean you cannot use it to access BT OpenZone WiFi, a key "plus" to the O2 offering.

If not unlocking then???

Umm, if you are not unlocking, are you just using the drivers? I got the impression from the website which you referred to that the dongle needed to be unlocked but perhaps I was wrong.

So does using the Huawei software still allow access to BT OpenZone?
