Im going to Germany for 4 days next week and will need to use my phone to contact my friend who lives there. what do I need to do to make sure I dont rack up any hidden charges? Will my phone work over there?

Don't worry you will be fine!!! It will work and it will not cost you an arm and a leg!!! O2 travel is a good option,depending on how much you want to use it over there, but it is definitely the safest option.

Your phone should work ok.
Switch off mobile data and use wifi.
Alternatively you can use O2 Travel for use there at £1.99/day

To the average punter it's confusing and inconsistent.....
