Transferring an O2 SIM-only SIM card to a new SIM-free phone.

I have a Sony Xperia M (Android 4.1.2) phone bought as a SIM-free phone. I have a SIM-only, pay-monthly, SIM inserted in that Sony Xperia M.

If I buy a new SIM-free phone, can I just transfer the existing SIM-only, pay-monthly, O2 SIM card to the new phone, or would I have to contact O2 first?

Hi guys....finally got the Xperia SP at 4pm this afternoon.... Been trying to work out how to get the internet up and running and after speaking with someone from O2 they realised my old Blackberry bolt on was still in use..... so with any luck I should be up and running sometime in the next couple of hours or so.........
Have been playing around with it just a bit and I must say that the camera is brilliant and the sound quality is fantastic, although you have to bear in mind my last phone was a BB Curve 5820 so it was total crap compared to this one... YAYYYYYY I got it

Good to hear. I agree with all your points and also call quality is the best I've had on a mobile....

We had a show stand set up in my city centre shopping mall from Sony and they were inviting the public to have a play with them and the Xperia z and to drop them in a pitcher of water.

Felt so wrong dropping it in.

Hi,

If a hard reset does not rectify the issues then you may be better off seeking advice from the phone manufacturer.

Always perform a back up before performing this as saved data is typically deleted.

Google for how to hard reset your make of phone.

If you've had the phone less than 14 days then you can return it to o2 for a replacement.
