I kept my number from talktalk its not transferred completely when I text its still the number that came with the sim. Help please

Settings >Phone >My Number and change the number to your correct one. 
save and reboot phone.

I did what MI5 said when I went to my number there was no number at all and its not high lighted so couldn't click onto it to put the number in.

Make sure you are looking exactly in Settings >Phone >My Number 

I've never known no number at all in there and it's a free text field so you can always input your number.
