Terminate account

Hi there,

A few days ago I asked to terminate my account and was given a code for another provider as a solution but I don't need it; I just want to terminate the account. I stopped the standing order from my bank because there's no other way to do it as I can see here.

Please, let me know if there's another simpler way (that it's not calling as I have difficulties to hear through the phone) and direct me to it.

Thank you,

Ismael

@Ismael You should not have cancelled your Direct Debit. O2 will come after you for any money that is still owed. If you don't settle your account it will affect your credit score.

The proper way to cancel if you didn't want to keep your number can be found in the guide below:

Cancelling your contract - An updated guide - O2 Community

You can also reach O2 via social media:
Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB), Twitter (now X) (https://o2uk.co/O2CTW), or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG)

Thanks a lot for the advice; I understand it can be a bad idea what I've done but no money is owed though. I'll end up calling them because according to the guides, in my situation the proper way is... writting a letter

@Ismael

The safest way is to use your pac and port your number to another provider on payg, the just destroy that new sim.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

@Ismael You may find that there is still a small amount owed, and that has caused many people to have credit score problems down the road. Search the forum and you'll see scores of people losing mortgages because they still owed O2 a tiny amount and didn't know it.
