I have tried using 2220 to stop texts, it is so garbled that I can make no sense of it. I have just had a live chat with a GURU called Benji who wanted so much information that I had to say it would be easier to move to another supplier. He did not seem particularly concerned and terminated the chat.
Is there anyone out there who can point me in the right direction please

You would have soon moaned if your O2 account had got hacked, a new expensive phone ordered signed up with a 24 month contract & your address changed - that use to happen a lot in the past & thats why O2 now want to make sure they are really dealing with the account holder.
Its good to see O2 are keeping up the rigid checks when dealing with customers.
