The wifi sign keeps coming up with an exclamation mark on it and the wifi stops working any ideas?

Go into the wifi settings, then advanced and make sure it's ticked to be always on.

It means the WiFi signal is not carrying and data. It's usually a problem with the router you are connected to.

Try rebooting the router and also forget the connection on your phone and reconnect to the WiFi signal.
