With the UK banks about to implement SMS/MMS texting to distribute verification codes for online purchases - what are O2 doing to enable SMS/MMS over O2 WiFi calling inline with other network providers (e.g. EE)?

Or should we now consider switching to another network provider?

Thanks, very kind of you. However given the length of time that has now passed, and Chris’ last response - I am not optimistic. Clearly this facility is not one of their priorities...

Apparently it's too difficult for O2 to figure out @seanbean

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Hi,

Just wondered if there's been any update on availability of SMS over WiFi calling? @Chris_K

I've just joined O2 and would love to see it available before the end of 2020.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the reason sky mobile is getting it first is because it’s a smaller user base that on average pay less than the average o2 customer per month, so they want to perfect it first. Sounds like it’s coming to o2 imminently though...

This helpfully explains why my text messages aren't being sent from deep inside a large hospital.

Hopefully one day O2 will manage to get this working then they can promote it as a benefit of joining O2.

I've stayed with O2 for a long time as I liked their customer service but they never do seem to be up their with the cutting edge technology. However I value the customer service to stick with them.

Strange how O2 had the technology 7 years ago but can't do it now?
