There have been several similar emails reported on here today. Basically they are probably a scam and you did the right thing ignoring it.

I will flag our co-ordinanator @Toby  to make him aware of another one....

I agree @jonsie  I have PM'd Toby with my concerns about this. It seems to be worryingly sophisticated!

There has been a rush of posts on here over the past 2 days with tales of emails texts and calls...all with far more information than they should have.and none of them O2. I just worry about the people who may not have come here for advice...and are currently being scammed

The DPA seems totally inadequate these days. No information should be shared but even then there are unscrupolous people in all walks of life ready to make quick bucks. There should be ways of controlling access to data bases and anyone found abusing this should be imprisoned.

It's sad that there are so many scams out there these days.  Some people are lucky and spot them, but to many people, they are not aware that they are scams and they give out important imformation which makes them vulnerable.  Obviously it is impossible to stop all of the scams because when one is exhausted, such as the O2 one, the fraudsters will start another scam, such as Amazon, etc.
