Returning previous phone for money back

I have just upgraded to a new phone, and want to return my previous phone for an agreed money back.

Is there any particular way I should do this, any particular process?

Be aware that O2 Recycle has been known to move the goalposts and not give you the money you agreed on.

You can also see how much you'll get for your old phone from other recycling companies such as CEX.
