OK I'm confused my bills are up to date no probs so I thought maybe if I pay the remaining balance on my phone I can get an upgrade. Only thing is I done this on a different card. It went in and was taken but there's no comfirmation it still says if I want an upgrade I still have to pay the remaining. So do I wait longer until my next bill due or act on this.

You may have to wait a few days for your account to update but you could have upgraded and paid off what you owe at the same time to avoid this.
