The op asked about a new number?...I gave the info based on that part of his question.....Also, it would seem far simpler to cancel the contract and allow the ex girlfiriend to take out her own OR ask her to take over payment for it....

If you were to change the number on that account then the number she wants to keep would be lost, it can't be transferred. The only way would be to pay off the handset and then you can cancel the contract and get the PAC. You just pay 30 days notice for the airtime.
