Old number

I recently got a new mobile and I disposed of my previous SIM card I can’t log into it but I have an account that I can’t change anything on as I need a verification code sent to my old number the company won’t help change it is there any way I can do this? Do I contact o2 can you check the messages or can they redirect it?
