So I sent my nearly perfect iPhone XR to o2 recycle, was offered £286 for it initially, they then said the lcd was damaged and revised the offer to £57 to which I declined. Received my phone back today and it is destroyed! Screen smashed and severe discolouration of the lcd. To say I’m furious is an understatement! Anyone else had this issue? I phoned o2 recycle and they have asked me to send the phone back and they will pay me the price originally quoted. I’m sceptical to say the very least as to whether they will honour this.

I have sent them an email with the before pictures, the imei on the box and the imei they have printed on the phone they returned. The agent I spoke to assured me that I will get what they quoted originally. We shall see! I have 2 o2 contracts and after this I’m considering cancelling them and going elsewhere, never have I encountered something like this before. Absolute disgrace

I have just checked the CEX site and there isn't a lot of difference to your original O2 recycle offer @Angelaq85

https://uk.webuy.com/search?stext=Iphone%20XR

So I hope they do the right thing and give you the price offered. thumbsup

They have no choice but to offer the full quoted price.

@Angelaq85 has evidence of fraud so unless someone at O2 recycle wants to go to prison, they must pay up with a full apology and a bit of compensation for the stress caused would be nice too.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Even receiving the original quotation would still leave an awful bad taste in the mouth. Irrefutable proof they are committing fraud on an all too regular basis.

Exactly. Though someone should get what they deserve. Unscrupulous beggars.

I would love to sit in on a training session for O2 Recycle. Just to see what new staff are told by their line managers. rage

I have just got an email from o2 recycle confirming that they will pay what was promised originally, they can’t back out now! Never again will I use this service! I am also putting in an official complaint, they will not get away with this. Thank you for all your comments, looks like I was lucky to have documented the phone before I sent it!

That's good to hear @Angelaq85 . They have been found out and are now falling over themselves to make it right.

You see, what they do, is prey on unsuspecting people. They don't expect anyone to take pictures of the phone, or make note of the IMEI before they send it off.. Everyone should do this, whilst enclosing a note in the package to let them know of the steps you have taken to ensure they don't try anything unethical with you.

If you are making a complaint (and you should) then this is the process to follow https://www.o2.co.uk/how-to-complain

Best of luck.
