O2 in South Africa

I will be revisiting South Africa.  As before, I will use a Pay As You Go local sim in my old dumb phone for local calls.  I will not be using my new PAYG Samsung S21 for sending sms texts or calls back to UK.  I only need it for logon authentication codes texted by UK banks, etc.  I will connect mostly via wifi or sometimes via a local network. My understanding is that I do not have to enable O2 Travel for incoming sms texts and calls which should be free?  My thanks in anticipation to whoever can confirm my thinking, or otherwise!

Incoming text are free.

Here are the roaming charges for PAYG

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.
