O2 email accounts

O2 has closed down its email accounts. Not a problem but I can still send to my account but I cannot download from the account to check. Emails sent to my o2 account just disappear. Why do emails sent to a defunct o2 email account not bounce back?

Because the email is still received by the smtp server which is still active.
It's only the pop server that has gone so far.

So how long before the smtp server is disabled so that emails sent to the account in error are bounced?

No one knows - we've asked but not had an answer.
tbh it's a major mess up all round.

Oh no, there are plenty of us on here.....and if the truth be known, there are many hundred within O2 thinking exactly the same.

It's taken them over 3 years of saying it is ending to get to this point where it is only half finished.
It could go on like this for another 3 years !!

After not receiving any emails into my o2 account after 9th August I have started receiving some again in the last two or three days! Whatever is happening??
