But can't you now cancel a contract that has say 20 months left on it & keep the phone & take out a cheaper sim only contract ?

Interesting note about contracts taken out after 25-Mar-2021 in revised T&C's - instead of increase based on RPI only every April, it is now the RPI plus 3.9%.

So instead of for example 2.1% (RPI), it is 6% (RPI 2.1% + 3.9% = 6%).

Not so much a gouge as an accumulation of deep grazes 🤨

If you are on refresh then you can pay the outstanding device plan and then move to a cheaper plan.
If you are on a standard 24 month contract then you would need to pay that off and then switch.

You can do that @SW_Villa, although the same term and conditions will apply as from 2nd August
