I don't know what is going on here and I'm not sure I believe it, but a thread has appeared elsewhere saying that O2 Webmail will be closing at the end of the year according to an O2 Web Chat advisor.

Maybe Chiara could check this out as people using this service may need to make other arrangements.

O2 surely will allow you you to do that!

Should do yeah. If the OP already has access to a third party SMTP server, then port 465 (SSL) or 587 (TLS or unencrypted) should be tried.

I'm one annoyed customer.  Only found out for the first time today that I can no longer send emails from my o2 email address and that it's shutting / shut down.  I've had mobile / landline / broadband for many years with o2 and I have not had even 1 email advising me of this. Customer services reckon they sent everyone an email.  Well given I check my inbox daily; and I've just checked my inbox and trash again and there's nothing there. Appalling.  Will be looking for a new provider for mobile when my contract ends in Feb. Grrrrr.....

If you are a BB customer you should still have your email address until April, however, some have been shut down in error.
If this is the case you should call CS on 202 and explain and they will reinstate it for you.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

An email was not sent out to O2 Broadband customers as it doesn't affect them.

The problem you're seeing is due to some customers being shut off in error.

Seem o2 mail is still working for fairly recent o2 leavers too like me. I left in Aug.

o2 have closed down my e-mail account, had it for years!. o2 NEVER told me they were closing my account!!!, I have lost a lot of stuff that I need. Been on the phone to them have to ring them back tomorrow.

If o2 don't get it sorted out they will lose some customers that not only use o2 phone service but o2 broadband as well. I will not mess about with them and will take no excuses from them, get it fixed or we are off to another provider and will NEVER come back to o2!!!.

I can confirm to you that o2 "Customer services" are NOT telling the truth. I NEVER got an e-mail on my account telling me that it was going to close!. So thats two for a start, how many others have had to go through this ?.

If you bothered to read above, as a BB customer you should not have been shut off, yet (not until next April). Some accounts have been closed in error. If you call O2 they will reinstate you (assuming, as you mention, you are/were a BB customer).......
YOU WOULD NOT HAVE GOT AN EMAIL AS A BB CUSTOMER !!!!!

I was going to say that is understandable as you went to Sky - but nothing makes too much sense where this is concerned. I went to Plusnet. I got no from o2 re email. Only o2 service that did stop on schedule was web texts.
