Hello,
We have had an O2 broadband connection installed with a static IP. The static IP is a /32 address and the subnet mask is 255.255.255.255. We are going to gonnect a VPN device which required the IP and default gateway be on the same subnet.
So I have two questions (I have called O2 tech support, but they don't seem to understand my question)
1) Is it possible for O2 to issue a single static IP and default gateway on the same subnet (so subnet mask is not 255.255.255.255)
2) If the above is not possible, if I take a multi static IP (8 block) will that mean the defualt gateway is on the same subnet as the static IPs?
Any advise or comments most welcome.
Thanks.

That was who I phoned, but the guy I spoke to didn't seem to understand what I was asking. So just thought I would put a post here to see if anyone can confirm or offer advise.

I assume as your on business broadband you are using O2 VPN....unfortunately I know nothing of this service so can't advise with any certainty.
What device are you trying to connect ?

It will be a Cisco 881 Integrated Services Router.
All I am trying to confirm is that if I get an 8 block static IP the default gateway will be on the same subnet as the IPs. eg.
Static IP range: 116.228.36.146 to 153
Gateway: 116.228.36.145
Mask: 255.255.255.240
