O2 Boost Box

OK. Forgive me if there are already hundreds of threads about this subject, but I've just moved to O2 from Vodafone.

I live in a house that gets particularly poor mobile reception, and luckily with Vodafone they were able to supply me with a Sure Signal which worked great in that all my mobile calls were routed through my broadband...and as I have fibre, I never had a problem.

Now I've moved to O2 (good deal on an iPhone 5), and I'm still in the position of having particularly poor reception in my house (my wife is on O2 too), and after reading through hundreds of posts elswhere, it appears O2 do have a Sure Signal equivalent (Boost Box), but charge three times as much and only offer it to business customers.

Does anyone know how on earth to either get an O2 Boost Box (I saw one on eBay tonight) or is there another option to boost the signal in a house (an off-the-shelf product perhaps or a Sure Signal hack)?

Any thoughts/advice welcome! Cheers.

No other known options than the ones you know about.

There is an app coming soon called TuGo which will allow calls to be made over your home wi-fi.

I feared this might be the case! Such a shame there isn't a solution from O2, when Vodafone offer such a neat product to solve the problem.

Cheers...will keep an eye out for TuGo, but it won't solve the problem of people ringing me. Might have to lobby O2!

Yes it will, they don't have to have it!

It will make the Boost Box unnecessary and the Vodafone solution won't look so neat.

The O2 solution will be neat!

Yes, I agree it looks neat, but I wonder how much a subscription will be?

Any ideas of when it's coming to consumers?

I spoke to someone online earlier about getting a Boost Box and he told me to contact a store and I could get one. So instead of trooping down I just called and the guy said he hasn't heared of any new news except for the trials ran early last year.

He also said that o2 didn't want to charge their customers to use a service they are already paying for (vodafone and suresignal) so thats why they have released the TU Go app.

For me, moving from Vodafone to o2, I like the idea but it just isn't the same as having a 3g signal and using your phone normal, you now need to use o2's app to use your phone.

Personally I wouldn't mind paying to have the box in my house and have a constant 3g signal, just like Vodafone and suresignal.

If there is anyone on here from o2, is there ANY plans to release the Boost Box, or is the TU Go app the best their is to offer?
