Not getting verification codes

I have just tried to buy something online and when my credit card company tried to send a verification code to my phone it didn't appear and so the payment was declined.  Although I was able to ring the credit card company and have made my purchase, it made me think there is a problem with my phone.  Last week when I was accessing my bank and two buildings societies, each of them were saying they were sending me a verification code but nothing appeared on my phone.  I switch my phone off every night so it should be rebooting.  Do people think this is a problem with my actual hardware i.e.  the phone itself or is it some O2 network problem not relaying the verification texts properly?  I've had the phone for at least three years but I don't think it's more than five years old.

@earlybird1 it's not your phone it's the crappy network.

I have the same issue, important texts don't always come through, but I get a massive amount of spam calls/texts that do come through.

That's interesting - do you mean the o2 network? If so, there's nothing I can do?

@earlybird1

Ignore that, it's just trolling.

Try the tips I gave you and also use this app for any network issues.
