Am thinking about purchasing the O2 insurance for my iphone 5 and wondered how good it actually was when people make a claim and how it works

You might want to see if your home insurance (if you have it) covers your phone, or make enquiries with your bank. You'll probably find that either of those will be cheaper than O2's insurance.

It's as bambino says.

Their are other insurance companies just thoroughly read their T&C and excess fee's.

I've read both good and bad experiences from people who have used 02.
