Mcafee update

When mcafee does the latest software update I can't get Internet connection. It's connected to my router. I've uninstalled it and tried downloading if mcafee website but it says files can't load. I've reinstated mcafee off the disc I got from O2 but its out of date and will not update. Please help.

It's probably blocking itself, lol. I don't like McAfee, I've been using Microsoft Security Essentials or Windows Defender for some time now. Both free, which one depends on your version of windows and not had any viruses *touch wood*.

It might be, I can't remeber if it came pre installed or if I downloaded it. I think defender is integral with win 7. MSE available here anyway http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/security/pc-security/mse.aspx

I agree with MI5, download and install MSE as above.

You might need to get the McAfee Removal Tool to get it off your pc.

AVG doesn't seem as good as it once was:

I can vouch for that. I stopped using it 12 months ago.

Thanks I have already done so with the removal tool. Just don't understand why I can't download from mcafee site as I get it free with O2. O2 are sending me a new updated cd with mcafee on it so I hope that works.
