LU underground?

Anonymous

Hi,

I thought I would share the saga of trying to get wifi on London Underground courtesy of O2- not a happy tale!

Previously, I was with Orange and LU wifi worked prefectly. I moved over to O2 in June and was delighted to see that they joined the wifi scheme in July. Great, I thought, I can work on the move like I used to. Mistake.

I have NEVER been able to sign in and made numerous calls to "technical support" and "gurus" which frankly are sapping my will to live. My O2 wifi and every other wifi works perfectly, so the problem is clearly that O2 will not authenticate.

I spoke to a particularly unpleasant your man this morning who reckons the whole thing is my fault and that I need to contact Virgin wifi! What exactly is the point of porting over a number to O2 if they can't be bothered to look after it?

Moreover, I know this is a new service, but am I really the only person that this has happened to? There must be a solution to this, but O2 are really trying hard not to give it!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

You'll find us much more friendly here.

They are prob pointing to virgin because its their connection 02 use.

I've not had the pleasure of trying to use wifi there.

Have you tried deleting the 02 wifi app and re downloading it ?

What phone are you using ?

Links of possible interest.

Hi, thanks for the response; more than I have received from both online and phone calls!

I have done everything that they told me; reloading, deleting profiles, removing other devices. Nothing works. I am CERTAIN that this is because O2 did not port my number properly. Am I really the only person that this has happened to? I know this is a new service, but I would be staggered if this does not happen on a regular basis. Surely all O2 have to do is call Virgin up and say "you know that wireless service we are paying you for...?"

I'm using a Galaxy S4 which works beautifully. I know this is not at fault.

Thanks

Not defending o2 here.

But we have seen issues with the porting in from orange.

Porting is done by the donor network and not the receiving network.

When you were with orange before you left did you remove your number from the system they use to authenticate you with LU?

Have you registered at O2 Wi-Fi?

I don't know how much you're aware of but it's not at all stations and only works at the platforms.

Thank you all for your help!

1) Adam, I think this is the key to the whole thing; no I didn't. Although, to be fair, when I left O2 did not have LU wifi. Now I need to find out how to get my number released. I did contact Orange who kindly told me to get lost!

2) Thanks for the e-mail address. I will give this a go.

3) Yes, I do know the limitations of LU wifi; I have been using it on Orange for over a year. The problem is not its limits, it is I cannot log in anymore.

Keep 'em coming!

If Orange told you to get lost then escalate it via their contact us link too.

I think their e mail address is

It doesn't matter who you are using as O2 Wi-Fi is free to anyone to use.

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean. LU wifi is NOT free and needs either Orange, Vodafone or now O2 to authenticate.
