I wish I had checked here first: O2 Recycle

Yeah, I learned a hard lesson here. Sent off my old S9 to O2 Recycle and then saw the posts on here. Surely thought I wouldn't be ripped off.

I was offered £145 and got that pushed up to £150. Just been emailed to say there was pixel damage so the offer is now £29.99. Pixel damage is a lie. I called them and they offered a goodwill of £60. I refused.

I'm now worried about the state my phone may be returned to me. I wrapped it up carefully. Has anyone here ever received back a damaged phone from them?

phone is already factory reset, had to do it for O2 Recycle anyway. I upgraded last week and transferred all my data so I've not lost anything thankfully!

Unfortunately don't have the option myself anymore as all my family live elsewhere! But it is what I used to do when I lived at home. So much easier.

I've learnt my lesson now to stop trusting online trade-ins...and to not trust O2 Recycle again.

They will have opened a grey full screen image and looked for any sign of burn in.
On oleds it's almost guaranteed that some level of burn in will be present, so they will almost always offer a lowball offer once checked.
CEX will offer less than perfect for burn in, but will still give their B grade price unless it's horrific.
Always check cex first.

Update: phone arrived back, checked it against my photos of it, and it has arrived damaged with the aforementioned pixel damage they said it had. So must have been damaged on the journey there (unlikely as I I bubble wrapped it to heaven) or something happened at the warehouse. Either way I'm never using P2 Recycle again and I'm off to trade it in to either GAME or Cex. Pixel damage or not I'll get more than 30 quid.

Also it's a one pixel. It's tiny. You have to have a white background in order to see it.
