How to transfer number to payg?

Anonymous
Not applicable

My contract expires this month and I don't intend to upgrade to a new phone any time soon - my current phone will suffice for long term use. I want to transfer my number to payg but I don't know how you can do that online.

How can I switch to payg online? Thank you.

They just want your account security password name and address to prove it's you. They may want to send a text to your phone with a code to confirm also so have it handy unless you are calling from it in which case it will be stuck to your ear. slight_smile

Hi @Anonymous ,

Have you had a look at sim only, they are better value for money.

If I do upgrade with sim only will I keep my current number or will be given a new one? Thanks.

I've upgraded to sim only, but I've been given a new number. I'm looking at the "my o2 account" page and I can see two numbers. One is my current number and the other the new one. Is this normal?

Phone 202 and ask them to migrate the number onto your new account. It seems you haven't upgraded as such but just taken out another contract. Migrating the number will close the original account.

Okay. I will do that.

Just a final question. Does my contract need to expire first before I can close my original account and migrate my number onto the new account? I just realised that I got more than 1gb of uk data left and am due to be billed in 4 days. Thanks.

No it doesn't need to be at an end, O2 will produce a relevant invoice. You will however lose any unused data or allowances.
