Put new sim car in phone on 7th ish of Nov , then they did a migration request same day so I could keep my old phone number , that person aparently filled it in wrong and ever since I've been told give it 24 -72 hours and restart phone , yet spoke to someone last night and they said should be sorted by 5pm today , any one had similar ?

Quickest I have seen is about 30mins, but as ports do not happen at weekends (assuming you are moving into O2 from a other network), and given issues with Guide: Migration & porting into O2 generally in recent months, it could be 2 to 3 weeks or longer.
