How To Stop Auto Connecting To O2 WiFi Hotspot

Anonymous
Not applicable

I have an S6 and recently whilst in costas my phone has started to automatically connect to the O2 WiFi hotspot.

At no time have I asked it to connect or given it permission to connect to the hotspot

There seems to be no way of stopping it from doing so either, the option to "forget" the WiFi connection is not there.

Can someone offer some assistance please.

Many thanks

Your phone or number must be connected to o2 in some way either now or in the past.
If you can't access any of the online tools to remove your number you will have to call CS http://www.o2.co.uk/contactus

Certain wifi hotspots are now designated as wifi extra. These enable you to automatically connect because they recognise you as an o2 customer from your SIM card.
You could try asking customer service to unsubscribe you from wifi extra or just turn off the wifi switch on your phone.

I should not have to turn my WiFi off due to O2 hijacking it

I have not subscribed to anything, I have not given O2 permission to hijack my WiFi with there hotspot and also there is no option to "forget" the network.

I do not have an O2 SIM card, I am however with GiffGaff who use the O2 network.

This is wholly unacceptable and may even be illegal

If anyone has any other information on this or suggestions, other than turn my WiFi off, I would greatly appreciate hearing it.

OK, try going to www.o2wifi.co.uk/account then go on devices, and remove your S6 ?

The only connection is I use GiffGaff who in turn use the O2 network to provide there service.

I have sent O2 a tweet but I think I may be about to go around in circles with them

Thank you for trying to help, it is very much appreciated
