Help with Shared Data Plan

Hi, I have an existing O2 Refresh Plan with 8GB of data. I recently bought a Gear S and wanted a SIM to put in it and share the 8GB of data. I ordered the SIM online, it came today and I've managed to change my existing plan to a sharer plan but cannot change the new SIM plan as it's saying I have to wait 30 days 😕

I wasn't aware this would be the case. The website said if you were purchasing a new device for use on shared plan it had to be in-store but as I was after a SIM only I didn't think this would apply.

I tried to get some help from the on-line chat but I was advised to cancel the new contract and that the new SIM also had to have a minimum of 1GB of data - this seems to contradict the advice on the website which says only the lead contract has to have this and it doesn't really make sense.

It seems crazy to have to cancel this contract, only to take out a new one, is there not something that can be done to sort this out for me? And is it right that the second SIM also has to have 1GB+ data?

Please help as I'm very confused now

It's just the lead device that needs 1gb or more of data http://www.o2.co.uk/sharer-plans
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Hi @VintageChick

Hope there is still time to do this as you have 7 days to set up the shared data groups...

The new connection cannot be done online ... It has to be done in store or over the phone...but if it is still under 7 days, give customer services a ring and they can try and added themselves, although it's not guaranteed to work...:(  Officially the procedure is you have to connect both (phone and sim card) together,as a shared connection... but like I said it's worth a try ringing customer services to see if they can find a way around it. Hope this helps slight_smile
