HP Mini 210 PC Netbook & O2 Mobile Broadband

I've just purchased an HP Mini 210 PC netbook. I can't remember the exact model number but its the one with a 3G modem built in and a SIM card slot in the battery compartment.

I was thinking of signing up to O2 for their mobile broadband on a month by month basis. Obviosuly this includes the USB dongle which, although I don't need for the netbook (I think!) I will use for my other notebook (An old HP Pavillion).

My question is.....

Can I simply put the SIM card into my new netbook and expect it to work? Also, Can I use the O2 Connection Manager software to manage my connection and send and receive texts, view signal strength, view remaining allowance etc....

Thanks very much!

HP Mini 210 PC Netbook & O2 Mobile Broadband

I had a look at that but don't seem to be able to get it to work using any of the many combinations of settings dotted around on this forum!

The notebook comes with HP's own Connection Manager but it tells me the modem is disabled all the time - However, it is enabled in both the device manager and the HP wireless assistant software.

Strangely, when I create a dial-up-connection (using the same settings which work on my desktop PC) it doesn't work either. It gives me an error (619 or 631; I can't remember but will confirm shortly)

Does anyone have any experience in getting this to work with a HP Mini 210-1005sa PC?

Thanks for your help!

If it's new I think it comes with HP Support included, it may be worth getting them to help with the modem not working problem.

Let us know how you get on.

I found this page which shows how to confirm HP Wireless is turned on:

There is also configuration info there.

Good luck.

Is it possible that O2 doesn't like the IMEI number of my HP's built in modem?

Thats an excellent guide! Well found!

I think its something to do with either the software configuration or the way I am turning each device on and off!

I will keep you posted! I am going to uninstall everything and then re-install it again!

Interestingly, just tried a different way of turing things on and off and received 4 sms messages in the process!

Thanks for your help so far!

Hi

I have just bought one of these (HP mini) as well. Did the HP guide do the trick?
