Hi

I'm travelling to Croatia from UK in September. The house has no WiFi but I need to access the Internet on my laptop and other devices.

What is the best way of doing this? Create a mobile hotspot? Would I need a Sim Card? Is it best to get a local sim out here?

Help!

As you are travelling to Croatia which is in the Eurpe Zone, you can use your allowance as you would at home @RichardC04

https://www.o2.co.uk/shop/international/using-phone-abroad

As long as you can get a good network coverage where you are, you won't need to use Wifi.

You must stay within your allowances though, otherwise you will be charged.

I suggest you call O2 before you travel to make sure there are no roaming bars on your account.

If you have a spend cap, ask for that to be removed as well.

Best of luck and enjoy your holiday.

The best thing you can do is upgrade your tariff before you go.

OR, if you are on a Refresh contract you can flex up and down once a month

https://www.o2.co.uk/refresh/flexible-tariffs

As for use of laptops etc, I suggest you buy a mobile BB dongle and a PAYG sim. You can get these from Amazon. I used these before I had Wifi in my apartment.  Make sure they are set up before travel.

You can also buy a sim for the tablets. (Unless they are Wifi only, then you have a problem)

I might add in jest, next time you book to go abroad, make sure the accommodation has Wifi @RichardC04 smiling

Just to add, there will be internet shops offering free wifi, as well as bars, cafes and restaurants.

I have travelled to France and purchased a 50GB Orange Travel pack eSIM for €49.99

My download speed is consistently >100Mbps

By comparison my UK EE mobile wifi and O2 dribble along between 3Mbps and 9Mbps

Maybe they do similar for Croatia?
