If you previously had a PAYG number with O2 (it's not clear from your post if you had a contract or PAYG previously) you need to use this form http://service.o2.co.uk/IQ/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=Companion,Ts=Webforms,T=PreToPost

If Your on O2 and wanting to move your current O2 mobile number and tariff from your original sim to a new sized sim card due to handset change.

It says it can take upto 24hrs but it usually goes through much quicker
