Charged for sending a message on Kik

I just received a text saying I had been charged 46p for sending a message on kik. Why is this? The message was 3 words long no emoticons.

Re: Charged for sending a message on Kik

@Shaun72 you'd have to ask KiK why the message was chargeable.
O2 would only charge you if it was sent over the network as an MMS message.

Re: Charged for sending a message on Kik

My understanding is that Kik uses data much like WhatsApp and other messaging apps do and this shouldn’t attract charges if you are within your data allowance
